The COVID-19 vaccine, developed by Chenwei and CanSino Biologics Inc., China's leading vaccine maker, has been patented by Beijing for the Ad5-nCOV, citing documents from the China's National Intellectual Property Regulator. The application for the patent was submitted on March 18 and is currently being approved on August 11, the report says.

This is the first COVID-19 vaccine patent issued by China, state newspaper People's Daily reported on Sunday.
Saudi Arabia has announced that it will begin Phase III of clinical human trials for the Cansino vaccine this month. Cansino says talks are underway in Russia, Brazil and Chile to conduct the third phase of the CanSino vaccine in human trials.
